How can I prevent empty, fully digital, or fully dropshipped orders from appearing in SKULabs?
Updated over a week ago

Occasionally we see completely empty orders come into SKULabs. While you may want these imported for record keeping, if you are looking to avoid importing orders you otherwise won't be fulfilling at all, there are options.

Handle status transitions on the sales channel directly

Shopify has the option to automatically archive orders which have completed payment and fulfillment. This option may be useful for fully digital orders.

Use store settings in SKULabs

BigCommerce stores have the option to "skip empty orders". This option is found in the access credentials and integration settings panel in your store's settings within SKULabs.

Use shipping rules skip them entirely

Shipping rules are a great way to automatically take action on orders in various ways.

Skip importing orders

You can skip importing empty or dropshipped orders entirely by setting up rules according to the example rules shown below and using the action "Don't import order".

Tag and hide orders

If you might need to process some of these orders in SKULabs or if you want the visibility for your support team, you can hide empty or dropshipped orders from your fulfillment team using shipping rules, tags, and filters.

Tag completely empty orders

Set up a shipping rule that assigns tags to orders that contain no line-items.

  1. Create a new shipping rule

  2. Add a filter with "Total quantity of line items on order" equals 0

  3. Add an action with "Set order tag":

Tag completely dropshipped orders

Set up a shipping rule that assigns tags to orders that only contain dropshipped line-items.

  1. Create a new shipping rule

  2. Add a filter with "Total quantity of dropshipped line items on order" is greater than or equal to 1

  3. Add another filter with "Total quantity of non-dropshipped line items on order" equals 0

  4. Add an action with "Set order tag":

Hide orders using advanced order filters

Once your orders are tagged, you can hide them from view by setting up advanced filters in your order list to exclude the tags you select:
