Should I put order or location specific data in my product SKUs?

Updated over a week ago

A Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) is the unique identifier for each of your items in SKULabs. This identifier should be unique for each variant or product that you sell and should match on each sales channel you sell that product to make linking listings automatic.

Ideally, an item's SKU should not be used to store other data about that product which may change over time, such as order, location, or dates. While changing a SKU will not unlink any linked listings or orders associated with it, SKULabs features other available fields and logs which can help you track these kinds of details without needing to manually keep SKUs up to date.
