Inventory replenishment transfer orders

Updated over 6 months ago

Replenishment transfer orders provide a simple way to restock quantities in a primary picking area using suggested amounts from another warehouse.

They are especially useful if your operations consist of frequent or daily warehouse transfers to "top-off" inventory for something like a front of house area or a hot picking zone.

How to create an inventory replenishment transfer

Requirements:

  • Items must be assigned to both source and destination warehouses

  • Items must have an assigned alert level in the destination warehouse

  • Items must have on hand quantity in the source warehouse

  1. Go to the inventory page

  2. Use filters to isolate any items or warehouse quantities you'd like consider for the replenishment transfer

  3. Select the checkboxes beside items

  4. Click actions > create replenishment order
    โ€‹

  5. Choose a Source Warehouse where you will be transferring inventory from

  6. Choose a Destination Warehouse where you will be transferring inventory to

  7. Click calculate to review the suggested quantities, then click Create transfer order
    โ€‹

  8. You can then process the transfer normally like any other from transfers page

TIP: If you don't select any item checkboxes, the report will suggest quantities for all items being filtered.

How it works

The report suggests the quantity needed to replenish an item to its stock alert level in the destination warehouse. It is calculated per item based on:

  • The difference between the current on-hand quantity and alert level in the destination warehouse.

  • Any quantities incoming to the destination warehouse on open transfer orders are subtracted from the suggested quantity to prevent you from accidentally over-replenishing.

  • The on hand quantity in the source warehouse is the maximum that can be suggested.

    • We won't suggest a quantity higher than the source warehouse can immediately provide.

    • We won't suggest any quantity if an item is out of stock at the source warehouse.

For example:

An item has 10 units on hand and an alert level of 25 in the Destination warehouse you choose. You need 15 units to replenish this warehouse.

  • If the source warehouse has 15+ units on hand, the suggested quantity will be 15.

  • If the source warehouse has 12 units on hand, the suggested quantity will be 12.
